The School Career Development Advisor (SCDA) training is designed for providers who work with youth in many settings to help prepare them for meaningful work and assist them in managing their future careers. These providers work with other staff to coordinate the design, implementation, and monitoring of school and community-based efforts to improve the chances of students entering post-secondary institutions or the job market with skills, knowledge, and credentials to be competitive.
School Career Development Advisors work in the K-12 sector to help prepare students for meaningful work and managing their careers. These advisors work with other staff to coordinate the design, implementation, and monitoring of school and community-based efforts to improve the chances of students entering post-secondary institutions or the job market with skills, knowledge, and credentials to be competitive. Examples of this work may include providers of career education, key contacts with business and industry, and organizers of events such as career days, job fairs, or internships/externships.

The SCDA Training objectives are organized into two primary competency areas.
Harrison & Associates East offers the SCDA Training as an add-on course for our FCD Training completers or current students. The SCDA Training is a total of 45 hours of online instruction consisting of 7 virtual face-to-face hours and 38 eLearning hours.
There are two different paths ways for applicants of the CSCDA:

Examples of these types of K-12 experiences include leading, training, consulting, teaching in a K-12 setting, Career, and Technical Education (CTE), or as a school counselor. This includes people who work with youth outside of the K-12 system including but not limited to programs such as WIA/WIOA, Adult Education, Outward Bound, Parks and Recreation, Junior Achievement and other programs serving youth in a K-12 age range.
Verification of experience will be done via resume or curriculum vitae experience. The resume or curriculum vitae will be submitted with the application for the CSCDA.
After completing the SCDA training, if required, applicants would be eligible to apply for the CSCDA from the National Career Development Association's credentialing commission. There is a required assessment for ALL applicants in order to receive the credential.
